Old age is inevitable, though least preferred by most of us. Is raising a bank balance all what needed to store for your retired life?? Does man live on bread and medicines alone??Our youth keep us so pre-occupied that we hardly plan for our retired life. Loneliness and a sense of being “left-out” engross our thoughts, longing for a life so enjoyable. Indeed, we need to plan for our retired life, lest, we will simply find ourselves metaphorised with the lazy cricket of Eosope’s fable. What we ought to do is rather simple. Let our children live their lives and go for investing time with friends of same age- they appreciate us better. Surround ourselves with people of similar thoughts and plan for an active old age- not a lethargic one. It seems better to dissolve in the concrete jungle and move to apartments than being secluded in self-designed bungalows. It is said that lack of exercise in youth shove our body to a state of “can’t exercise” mode, a root cause of majority of old age ailments.
Need to keep up with the trend is not be reiterated since it is the need of the time. Retirement doesn’t mean shutting down the brains and waiting for the ultimate end. Habit of reading can definitely help us out the solitude.
